The real cost of per-seat salon software
The subscription is the visible cost and usually the smaller one. The larger cost is that the platform decides what your business is allowed to express — and every mismatch becomes a manual workaround that a person performs, correctly, forever.
The front desk remembers which technician cannot do a particular service. Somebody knows which add-ons pair with which treatments. A staff member fixes the "any technician" bookings by hand each morning. None of that is in the software, so none of it survives that person's day off.
Owning the software means those rules stop being tribal knowledge and become things the system enforces. That is worth more than the subscription line, and it is the part an owner usually cannot see until it exists.
