What changed
According to Ainora and 2talk, voice-AI adoption in home-service businesses jumped from 10% in 2024 to 33% in 2026. That is a 23-point increase in just two years. This shift is not limited to home services, medical and dental practices have seen similar adoption rates.
Most businesses are not replacing their whole phone system. They are adding an AI receptionist that sits on top of the existing process. The technology is now accessible and widely adopted, but most deployments are basic. The AI answers calls, but does not handle quoting, booking, or follow-up.
This is the gap. Businesses are past the 'should we try AI' stage. The question is whether the AI is actually doing the work or just taking messages.
