What changed
Reuters, citing new research, reports that 89% of U.S. small businesses now use AI in some way. Most of this use comes from AI features built into tools like CRMs, finance software, and scheduling platforms. Only 12% of these businesses have a dedicated AI strategy. The rest are running on a patchwork of automations, often with no one in charge.
At the enterprise level, the same problem exists at a bigger scale. Dataiku just released a tool to inventory every AI agent running across major platforms. Their CEO points to IBM research showing fewer than one in five organizations can even list all their AI systems. The market moved faster than anyone could plan. Most companies are now stuck with scattered tools and no clear way to measure cost, risk, or value.
