What changed
In the last 48 hours, AInora and SchedulingKit reported that roughly one in three small and midsize businesses in the US and EU now run AI phone agents. This is a jump from 11% to 30% adoption in a single year. In dental, it is nearly half. In home services and hospitality, about a third have made the switch. Axios confirms that the market is no longer asking if AI phones are coming, but what quality of system will win.
For operators, this is not the first-mover moment anymore. Most competitors have either tried a vendor phone agent, or have seen it in action at a peer. The question now is not whether to install AI, but whether the version you run is a duct-tape add-on, or a system that can actually run your workflow. The market now expects AI to answer, book, and route calls, but the next step is integrating with your pipeline, CRM, and reporting.
